The starting point was a narrow, unfinished basement corridor: bare gray concrete, dusty, with tools and buckets staged along the walls and stairs visible at one end. The space itself was part of the challenge, a tight corridor makes it harder to maneuver grinding equipment, dust extraction gear, and materials than a typical open garage does, so the whole prep sequence took more care and more time than a standard job. Before coating could start, several spots needed grinding and a leveling compound applied to even out cracks and low areas in the slab, including a section near an exposed stone foundation,
where the level difference was most noticeable. Once the concrete was sound and flat, the corridor got Eastwood's standard flake system: a gray base coat, a broadcast of black, gray, and white flakes, and an epoxy topcoat finish. The finished corridor reads as a clean, uniform gray floor with a fine black-gray-white fleck pattern, glossy, level, and a clear step up from the dusty concrete it replaced. The result came out very clean and finished, the kind of look a homeowner pictures when they first ask about coating a basement rather than just living with the concrete.
